Mom life is a busy life. It generally revolves around the little ones that became your boss the day they are born. It is not often your mini bosses allow you time off to partake in activities that you enjoy, so sometimes you just have to find ways to make time. Check out these inexpensive ways moms can find more time for themselves, and get some “me time.”
Delegate the Chores
You are not the only one living in your home, so why are you the only one that does most of the housework? Make a chore chart, include each able member of the household and your spouse included. Things like sorting laundry and putting clothes away are tasks that your children should be capable of doing. The more chores you take off your list, the more time you will have for yourself.
Be Less Thorough (Sometimes)
Not everything has to be perfect, all of the time. If you find that you need to sweep the house daily to keep up with the dog hair, that is okay, but is it really necessary to sweep the stairs every day as well? You can still sweep the house daily, but opt for sweeping the stairs once a week instead, freeing up some extra time for yourself.
Carpool
Do you spend a lot of your time running the kids to and from sporting events and school activities? Get together with other moms and make a carpool schedule. Having to drive to the soccer fields only once a week, instead of twice can relieve a lot of stress, and it will be fun for the kids as well, to ride along with their friends.
Schedule it in
Sometimes no matter what you do it seems that you just cannot find time for yourself. If that is the case, you will just have to mark “me time,” on the calendar. Find something that is not a priority and push it aside every so often and make yourself a priority. Making yourself a priority is something every mom needs to do.
Don’t Overcommit
Let’s be honest here, it’s okay to say no. A mom can find more time for themselves by saying no to other commitments. When you’re saying no to other people, you’re going to have more time to yourself. Overcommitment happens to the best of us, but don’t let it run your life. With spending less time helping other people, you can spend more time taking bubble baths, watching your favorite shows, and doing what you love most.
